I'm very busy these days... so I have no time for making new projects. I had some exams for my engineering course last month but I'm totally not satisfied with the grades I got (even If I've passed them), so I'm now re-doing ALL of them. Here in Italy we have a saying, something like "blessed are those who content" (and this explains a lot about Italians way of doing things), well, I don't want to be content, I don't want to be blessed, I want to be satisfied by myself and by what I have achieved, and now I don't feel that way, I feel like I could do better, so let's do things better! :)

This week: vintage shorts with straps + snow in italy

Hi!
Do you remember last week post? :) I drew these shorts

and now I've sewn them! oooh finally! I'm sooo glad I made it :D because this is the first time I try to make pants, and... I'm really really sorry but where I'm now it's freezing! So I can't take off my two pajamas (LOL) and make pictures of me wearing them. too damn cold in rome today :D (see snowy photo below)
anyway, here they are:

Two things I like about these shorts:
1) since I used a 90s sewing pattern I borrowed from one of my mummy's mag, they turned out in a vintage shape, just like I wanted them. Then I made some changes, adding the straps, not making any zip but cutting the front-leg in the middle and putting some buttons (yeah you can leave some button opened from below, creating a weird/sexy effect :D) and making them more high-waisted.
2) the buttons: if you notice them, there's a triskelion engraved on every button. as for the labrys necklace, (and what a coincidence in founding these button in the same place where I found the labrys, in a small flea market in the outskirts of rome) triskelion is another symbol rich of meanings: here in italy it's a well known emblem if you go, for example, in sicily (a lot of local flags had it), and in the BDSM community it's very used too, like in dom/sub or master/slave relationships (If I'm wrong please correct me and excuse me for my ignorance :). Just because, as I already said, if I'm wearing a symbol then I want to know what that symbol means, I very curious (like sick) and I love all pagan, celtic and viking emblems :), I found them so fascinating :) that's it.
Anyway, these are my shorts again (details of buttons and straps which I made detachable)

And this is what I see from my window today :) I like this weather but I prefer to wait for less cold to taking picture with shorts :)

Hi everyone!! :)
first of all... I'm not sure if straps are actually called this way in English, if I'm wrong I hope you'll excuse me :)
anyway, these days I'm sewing some shorts with straps.. (sewing shorts is really hard :-S they take a lot of time, also because it's the first time I try to make pants) so for this week I'm posting an on-the-fly sketch I just made few minutes ago, and next time I hope I'm done with them and I hope to find the time to take pictures at the sunlight, and post them online, etc.etc.
by the way, this month is very busy for me to find time for sewing or drawing or reading books... I have tons of exams and they'll take place throughout all february and march :\ so i'm always at college programming or studying...
as usual, I'm in a hurry and I must go :D

Sometimes I like it this way, being absorted in all my thoughts, leaving mind free to go wherever it pleases, and who knows where it will go.

Hi everyone.
During this week I've been working on my fashion sketches... I think I'm improving in things like body ration and proportions and blablabla I don't give a fuck about these rules, what make me fell better when I look at my new sketches is that now they are more "me". Day by day, sketch by sketch, the body turns out more androgynous, masculine... I want to reach the point where given a body its impossible to detect any sexual identity. Maybe, for some people that body is of a masculine female, for some other it's of a feminine male, who knows, who cares.

I'll show you the pattern details when I'll be done with it (it has some pearls and some chains... and some holes). I just made few colored sketches... wanted to try the way a vest can fit in many various looks (honestly I was only interested in total black and rock-chic looks, which are the ones that best represent my personality and my own personal style irl) so what do you think? which one is your favorite?

Hello everyone... I'm on vacation in a small town in south italy for a couple of weeks, it's cool and there's snow everywere, such a sweet, wild place. I have to say, people are nice but kinda inquisitive and tactless in minding their own business but I can deal with it, since I lived here when I was kid I know how to keep their curiosity at bay and being gentle and funny at the same time, like responding with hilarious answers to their inappropriate questions, so everybody is happy and my personal life stay safe in its super-secret black box.
I'm busy and I'm studying a lot as always, so this week I just came up with this fashion sketches which represents the nude-look outfit I'm making for new year's eve. It's easy and cheap, nothing special. :)

Hi everyone and welcome back! I missed this place a lot, but I had so much work to do for my exams... and guess what, I'm not done yet. I'm glad to hear from my US friends that their semester is over, but here in Italy my engineering exams started a couple of weeks ago and will end approximately around the first March week... (shit shit shit shit), this means no Xmas vacation for me :) only crazy statistics stuff and programming projects to be finished within the next few weeks... but there is some good news: I'm almost healed from that problem I mentioned in the previous article. Like... you know when people say "oh god this thing/song/person gives me nervous urticaria", well, actually this really can happen to your skin and it sucks. The more during the day I was angry with people, the more the night I was suffering for this disease. At the beginning I was like "omg I'm going to die", then I started to think it was some sort of food allergy...then because I was doing too much things all together, and then, one day my parents come to see me, and from that day on the disease magically disappears... so, today I know what I'm suffering: HATE. I hate my new male roommate from south-Italy, because he's such an ignorant person, homophobic, sexist, noisy, and racist. I hate my university colleagues, because they only show up when they need me. I hate most of my female friends, since they all come from small towns and have that fucking closed mind... hanging out with them means to hear all the time "ooh look at that girl! she's dressed like a whore", "look at that bitch", "look at that guy, he must be gay"... (really? what the fuck is wrong with people?) Finally I understood what was the only right medicine to take: buy a new phone number, and cut this people out of my life. GTFO. Now I can sleep at night instead of scratching my skin and suffer from urticaria.
Maybe you think I'm overreacting or I'm crazy or I judged too much, but please consider my point of view, I came from an awesome family: my dad is a great psychiatrist and a great activist who reads a lot of books, he gave me the love for culture and the respect for any kind of human attitude and for the environment, and my mother is a great artist, she has a lot of fantasy and she does a lot of creative works and gave me my imaginative vein... (and this mix explains why today I'm an it engineer who makes dresses :D). Thinking of my actual ~~friends~~, I feel like I was in a cage of ignorance. I now realize I've surrounded myself with wrong (scumbag) people :), my fault.
Now I feel better and I'm making new friends, just people like me, who respect any kind of sexuality or religion and have love for nature and care for environment, and who call me because they like me, not because they need me. That's it.

Anyway, let's talk about this week work: it's a necklace with labrys charms and blood, it just reflects my mood of last days. I found some labrys charms at the flea market last day, they were adorable and I just paid like 1 euro for six of them, what a bargain. I attached them in dark-grey chains of various size and painted randomly some parts with red metal paint. The paint is not yet dry so I cannot take some pictures of me wearing the necklace. It looks like macabre and dark... I was listening Dimmu Borgir while making it :D plus I DO LOVE labrys, it's an ancient figure with many rich meanings, just to let you know, it is part of the GLBT community symbols (because of some feminist interpretations), it's a modern-pagan symbol, it has some connection with fascism era and it appeared along with many mythological figures from ancient Greek to Africa. You know, if I'm wearing a symbol, I have to know what that symbols means.

I'm not an automaton (am I?)

Hiii everyone! Finally it happened, the long awaited moment has arrived: my body can no longer fulfill the gazillion activities and orders my mind gives to it, my body is saying "Slow down a little bit dear, please". So, I have this very very .very. important (and hard) exam coming up in my engineering university (something like advanced statistics wtf) and I absolutely have to concentrate on it, and also I'm starting to get sick (luckily nothing severe) since I'm doing too many things all at once and... although I do not feel stressed, my body is sending me weird messages which I interpret as a warning. I hate this, I'm a strong personality and I have tons of interests and above all I can't and I won't show around my weak side (even because I haven't one :D) but sometimes I have to realize I'm not an indestructible automaton, so I have to choose between all the things and set up the right priority schedule. I'll be absent for a while, just a couple of weeks. Obviously next time I'm gonna publish second part of the lace dress thing, and obviously new project is here and it's finished and ready to go :) Stay tuned and see you in a while (or right now on twitter) ;-)

This week: I want a lace top - Part 1 (and some facts about me)

Hi people,
how are you? I'm not really in the mood today, but since it's sunday it's time to post new works so let's do it.
Before to show you my weekly design project I would share some random things about me, because looking at the previous articles I noticed I look like an automaton, something like "this is my design blablabla this is me wearing it blablabla bye" (honestly I'm really this way, I'm used to being concise and go straight to the point).
First of all I wanted to thank the people who comment this blog, I don't care if it's in a good way or in a bad way, all I care is that people interact with me and give me feedback about my works, so thank you all :) I really appreciate it.
Second thing is about the language in which I write my articles, since somebody asked me why I write in english when I'm Italian. Well, although my english is not really good, I think it's a good way to communicate with as many people as possible. I'm not interested in sharing my works with a specific country, I want to stay in touch with creative and smart people, without boundaries of any kind.
Third and last fact is about some costumes I made for a metal band here in Italy. One day they rang me and asked if I could sew some costumes for their new video and I obviously said YES :). It took me about 24 hours to make them all (with few hours of sleep), and today I'm very happy to see my name in the credits, just a little satisfaction.
Now the weekly design: this time it's split into two parts since I have exams and no much time for drawing and both sewing.
This week I made the sketch, next week I'll show you the final product :)
I was inspired by lot of lace dresses I've seen around in some cities of north-Italy during a small vacation last week, so I liked them and I decided I want one too :)
I designed a lace top and I put it into two different contexts: the left one (picture below) is meant for every day and in context like university or work, the right one is my personal reinterpretation of it and it's the one I prefer, putting it into some heavy metal outfit. I just think the left one is trivial and ordinary, actually I don't like this kind of outfits. I prefer the rock one, it shows an interesting contrast between leather jacket/biker boots and lace without seeming like gothic (since every time I think of the words "lace" and "leather" the first thing that come to my mind are all those goth corsets...I mean, they are absoluting cute and sexy but I wanted to create something different, not gothic).
And you? Which one is your favorite, the classic one or the heavy-metal one? :)

This week: studded collar from an unused shirt

Hello everyone,
days ago I found an unused shirt in my wardrobe so I detached collar from it in order to realize an idea I had in mind for some time.
It's a detached collar decorated with studs you can wear over a shirt or under/over another collar or wherever your imagination takes you to wear it.
So, in first place I had this:

Then I folded the borders with a black ribbon without cutting it at the end of the collar borders, just because I wanted it to look like a little tie or to make a bow... (see pictures below)

At the end I've sewn a button above it and applied the studs (I chose some bronze colored ones)

This week: from cheap cotton shirt to military jacket with lace and skulls

Hi everyone,
this week I tried an experiment on a cheap black cotton shirt, it was funny and easy and at the end of the process it became a nice goth-military shirt-jacket :) To do this I used [and I found them on]:

hotfix/iron-on skull studs [ebay uk]
raw lace fabric [flea market]
grey metal chains of different sizes [flea market]
fantasy and creativity [right brain :)))) ]

So, let's start with the cutting part.

In the photo below I've marked the parts to be cut: front-side and sleeves (just because I love 3/4 sleeves, I found them sophisticated, vintage and more them show off the wrists, which is a pretty body part to show ~~I'm weird I know~~)

Once that is done I decorate the cut edges with lace

To give the shirt a goth look I made some straps to apply on the front and the back, placing over them the hotfix studs (some cool skulls hotfix -thank you ebay-)

Finally to give the shirt a military touch I made two shoulder sliders using the fabric of the sleeves cut above and applied over them some random hotfix and some small-size chains

I made some pictures while wearing it, I hope you like it :) It's simple and it requires very few and easy-to-find materials.

This week: "add your web domain to your work bag"

Hi everyone,
for the project of this week I was inspired by the web 2.0 leaf-shaped icons, you can notice them very often in the companies logos, something like

This was not a random choice, because many of this images are used by companies operating under the respect for the enviroment and nature, and I love and always respect nature and all its beautiful colors.
Now, to give this naturalistic work-bag design a touch of technology, I thought of a chain with customizable charms hanging from the handle, which everyone can personalize by writing the name of their own website, or twitter username, and so on, provided it's linked with a web-based name. Maybe some geek girl will like to write "127.0.0.1" on it :D, who knows...
By the way, the first image below is a sketch of the initial idea, followed by some color experiments I've done in photoshop.

This week: "flames or flowers?" and "Mind the gap please Trip" (London.. finally :)

Hello people of the internet,
how are you doing today? I'm full of thoughts about my decision to quit job to have full time for taking my degree (master degree if you are from US) and worst of all, I have to hard-concentrate on a lot o math stuff to study and this is killing me. It's not easy to leave a paycheck and go back to school among people younger than me by four or five years, it's kinda embarrassing.
BTW, this week I wanna show you a little contrast: to use a single pattern to make both flowers and flames and apply it to two different corsets. The result is... a badass corset :) it's all dark-black and has leather strings on it, and a white and relaxing colours corset, filled with brown strings. The white one is inspired to last summer fashion, when this flower-texture thing showed up (actually I designed it in february 2011 and presented it to a graphic fashion design examination at fashion academy in italy).
So let's have a closer look at the textures:

That's it :) Do you like it? To implement both corsets I will have to first get the paintings (and patience :) ) to hand-draw the fabric.

Another thing I wanted to say is that last week I went to London, omg London is such a beautiful city, compared to other cities I've visited this year, in London I feel like I was at home for all the time. Nice city, nice people, and nice beer :) awesome beer :D
This is me in Camden Town, there were lots of leather shops and in some of them, retailers stop me to ask where I bought the jacket I was wearing, and then I found out that they have it in their stores too :D (I bought it on ebay uk last year and paid it half than they sell it hehe)

This week: my first bag

Hi!!
This is a scheduled post since just now I'm supposed to be in London :)

This is the first bag I've ever made. I used high quality black faux leather. Some parts are hand-sewn (handles and bottom) while other parts are sewn with sewing machine. Its front and back have some holes (I made them with a press) and there's no lining on the inside: I did it on purpose so that it's possibile to see the items inside the bag through the holes, also back and front have different applications: one side has round studs, other side has square studs.

I know pictures suck but I'm kinda in a hurry,

This week: colors! (on black, obviously) top-t shirt with fringes on the sides and acrylic coloured square studs (plus indignados in rome)

Hi everyone,
this week I made a top (I have not cut a pre-existing t shirt as it does a lot of people, since I prefer doing my things from scratch) with some fringes on the sides and studs (hand colored using acrylic metal paint) over the neck and the bottom of the shirt.
I wish I hat time to do more photos and show you the entire development process but believe me, university engineering courses takes me a lot of my free time. The sketch that you see below, I even had to draw it during a lecture on mobile computing -.- (meanwhile, people looked at me with the "are you sure you're in the right place??" face. haha)
So, let's start.

This is the initial idea, at first I drew a sketch by hand, then I tested colors with photoshop

I realized I needed the coloured studs, so I went to the hardware store and bought some acrylic metal paints. I have not found the studs (the haberdashery where I usually go to supply was too far away to reach) so with a few euros I bought a white-studded belt and I removed the studs from it, then I painted them.

While the paint was drying I sewed the shirt (I used very soft black jersey fabric) and then I assembled all together.

Now a little digression.

As many of you know, yesterday there was indignados manifestation day and obviously I was there. I arrived in the late morning in Rome and I found myself in the middle of the battle. I have to admit it was a little dangerous but I'm always willing to fight for my anti-capitalism ideals. fuck corporations and mental slavery :) Here's a pic of Rome at sunset, just after protests.

This week: boots customization & how to give new metal an antique/rusted/old look

Hi,
this week I customized a pair of low-priced and anonymous-looking boots, and since I had to apply an antiquing effect on metal parts, I take this opportunity to show you how I give the old and rusted look to new metal.
While some people dislike this effect, I think silver/steel parts of jewels and shoes are just too shiny and too princess-style, I don't like it, I rather prefer pirate-girl-style :) so let's give shiny things the rusty and damned look they deserve :)))

All you need is just a sponge and some dark-brown and/or black nail polish.

For silver/steel necklaces I use only the black color, as you can see in the photo below; just put some nail polish on the sponge and then press gently and repeatedly until you get the desired amount of "oldness"

Hello everyone! this week has not been a good week, in Italy many negative things have happened and I still don't know if it's worth to stay here and continue fighting or give up and go away. So I got a little lost in these thoughts about future and decisions to make.

I have not had much time to create something, but I made some sketches on the fly (a top and a jacket) and a design to the computer (a camouflage clutch bag).

The creation of models often depends on materials I have available, and to make these new things I have to go around shops and flea markets in search for suitable materials.

Many people are willing to do anything to become famous or successful, and treat these two things (fame and success) as the same thing.

I think that fame is not synonymous with success. To be famous you just need to impress common people, provoke and shock them with unconventional ideas or gestures (the easy part) and they will start talking about you, but to succeed you must enter special people's heart, those people who are able to understand the purpose and the commitment behind your ideas and your designs (and this is the hardest –impossible?– part).

I believe the best thing to do is a mix between the two approaches, always working hard but not to forget to think and act outside the box :)

I made this clutch purse for those times when I go out with friends and I don't need to carry a bag around, and for all the times when a bag is a volume so large that it could hide or affect an entire outfit (big problem, uh? -_-'' ).

I made it with black faux leather, some black studs near the zip closure, and lot of multi-colored chains (all in the shades of grey, actually, I would've liked to add some red ones too but they were out of stock grrr) hanging from the bottom. That's it, I think it's simple and noticeable at the same time :))

I haven't had much time to draw it to the computer so I just hand-drawn it and created the cardboard cutting pattern.

The other day I was talking with my friend who advised me, instead of just showing pictures of objects, to to take pictures of me wearing my stuff, in this way the pictures have more impact and show a certain significance. although I'm not a model and I'm not great at being spontaneous in photos :D, i think I'll accept his advice, let's try it! so... I added some new pictures in the shawl post below and I made some shots with the item I'll show you for the next this week post :)

Sometimes, during the day, I come here, re-read my articles and sadly realize that I suck in English, ooh I suck so much. In Italy people is too proud to be Italian that forget the rest of the world, including languages of the rest of the world, and I said it twice intentionally because here it works this way... there is the big "WE" and there is the small "the rest". omg I hope to never become like this. It's not easy to write in a language that is not your language, and now I'm realizing it.

This week: foulard/scarf/shawl with silver studs and fringes, in cachemere/paisley-pattern fabric

Before returning from vacation I worked with the help of my mother to the realization of a sewing pattern for a waistcoat. I still can't believe all the things she knows and all the stuff she's able to do, at her time it was normal to do all things that for me today require expensive courses in tailoring and modelism.

Unfortunately for my fantasy, the acid-yellow-green tissue which would actually be the lining of the aforementioned waistcoat, struck me for its golden hues and the vibrancy of the nuances that I decided not to relegate it in a invisible place but to move it to the foreground and make a fringed shawl of it to celebrate the arrival of autumn (I'm not a person particularly in summer) with something new to wear.

The edges are covered with semi-rigid faux leather so that wearing it does not fall limp at the ends but remains massive. This intention arose from the fact that because of all the food I ingested during the summer, my hips had grown a little bit (grrr! :)) and I had to balance the volumes.

I applied one of the two long sides of some silver rivets, of which there are hanging fringe, even those with black faux-leather, to give the object that rocker / biker look I'm in love with, being a passionate of good music a great admirer of the free spirit of the biker's life. So, this is it, I hope you like the photos below :)

Welcome to this new web site dedicated to topical issues and creativity. Getting Started: This place is NOT a fashion website :). I'm not interested in luxury brands and I don't care about luxurious-fashion lifestyle, I'm a pragmatic and unconventional girl, and i don't let myself to be conditioned by the myth of the multi-brands or by the high price as a measure of the intrinsic value of an object. One of my passions is to create clothing and accessories (as well as objects of various types) because it is for me a good way to express my restless personality, and, frankly, because it'is a great satisfaction for me to create something noticeable with very little money. I like the detail that makes the difference, which is a button ... some fringes, or a zip in the wrong place... oh yes, all my style is made of right things in the wrong places or opposite looks combined with each other.
